A general question to all the kin: Where is your favourite location in LOTRO, and why? Is there a place you would like to visit that LOTRO hasn't shown us yet? Please reply, I'd be interested to know :-)

Of all the places I've been to in Lotro, my favorite is the Shire. It's so peaceful there. Of places I have yet to see, I can't wait to see Lothlorien.

I have to agree with Vendla on this one. The Shire is very beautiful and calm. I can't wait to see Rohan!

Well if we are talking about an area, then i would have to say Lorien, If we are talking about a spot, then their are some ruin in the Brandywood I often enjoy traveling to, to enjoy the sunrise or sunset.

There are a couple specific locations in the wilds that have made me forget the quest I was on, and just pan around and take it all in. (And often do so until jumped by some mob I didn't see, shaking me harshly back to the task at hand.)
I'd have to find them again - they really aren't marked or named on any map.

I really like Enenwaith. It really feels like you're getting towards Rohan down there. Moria is incredible, though if you spend too long down there, you feel like you'll never see daylight again. Lothlorien is beautiful, and of course we all love The Shire :-)

I can't think of any place that is the most beautiful to me ..... but .... as for magnificent and just plain spell binding .... I would have to say The Prisons of Isengard. I actually had to stop playing and spend an entire day .... just exploring the place

My absolute favorite is honestly Bree town. Its just so, folkey! It's humbling and not very intimidating. Great spot to just hang out and smoke some pipweed. Maybe spend a day over a pint at the Prancing Pony. Its just so friendship friendly!

There's this spot in forochel overlooking thebay that I really love at night. The 2nd hall in Moria is also one of the most breathtaking spots in the whole game. Loth and shire are givens.. I would love to see Laketown and erebor. As well as mithlond. And I would love to see edoras. And dol amroth. This is becoming a ramble, I'm done now.

Granted I'm only level 29 at the moment but I still have 1 favorite spot that I've run into.
1.) Tom Bombadil's House - My first time running through the dark woods I was feeling uneasy. Dank and dark, spider webs wrapping around me, sweat soaked, cold chill enveloping my body. Then, amidst the fog, there shone a light, inviting me to follow it, so I did. When I first stepped into Tom's house there was an immediate feeling of comfort, security, happiness, and well-being. I didn't even want to leave his house. It felt like I was in a bubble of wholesome goodness with a void of evil waiting outside the door. Between the lighting and the music it really made my gaming experience memorable.

For me, it would have to be the ruins, whether it is just a few old columns jutting out of the ground in some remote corner of Bree-land or the massive city of Annuminas, and all points in between.
I think the Lotro devs did a fantastic job of giving the landscape a feel of traveling through a once grand empire with massive cities and an extensive road network ... all gone now, and all we see is the remnants.
As a historian in the real world, even fictional history fascinates me. I'm always wondering what a stand of columns used to be, what purpose this crumbling old wall once served. I wonder what caused it all to collapse ... was it destroyed in war? Was it simply abandoned and left to decay? And if so ... why?
And even though Lotro is just a game in cyberspace, again I feel that the game devs have mastered the art of making a person really *feel* like you're merely the inheritors of a once-thriving world, that others have walked those paths before us many years ago (even though the game is only 4 years old hehe).
I often pause near to or inside of ruins and I try to envision what the place must have been like during its height; all of the people who once called it home, and I think of all the anonymous lives that existed there, each with their own story and memories forever lost to us.
It gives me a very wistful feeling, and, for whatever reason, the ruins of Middle Earth spark immersion so powerful that it evokes an emotional reaction in me.

A historian in RL .... fascinating! thus you will love this game indeed!! And i agree .... the old should not be forgotten ... and history will repeat itself ... and what is old will be new again

Favorite place... wow I have a ton of them. I remember being scared out of my mind the first time a tree attacked in the Old Forest -- and I was thrilled about that. You see, I'm a stickler for authenticity, and man did that ever feel real. I can go in there now without screaming bloody murder, but the Huorns there still give me chills. Lol, I keep admiring the dev team for creating stuff like that, partly because I'm a writer myself and addicted to worldbuilding, and am I ever looking forward to the Ents! Yeah, that's probably my absolute place of all at the moment, though I love the forests in there regardless of which one I'm in.
