~~ Fordil ~~ (Man Minstrel)
One day, Fordil was practicing his lute in the forests of Chetwood, nice and calm, when suddenly he heard people talking in the distance. Since he had played that lute part over and over again, at countless parties, he decided to get up and hide behind a bush to hear what these travellers were talking about.
At first, Fordil couldn't really make much of the discussion, something about danger on the road, trolls during the night and farmer Maggot's dogs chasing the group throughout entire Eriador for what they did a few days ago. But then, one of the hobbits in the company mentioned the elves of Rivendell, and how excited he was to meet them. Rivendell! Some of these elves really have incredible skill when it comes to playing music and writing poetry!
At that point, Fordil decided to stop working as a solo musician who performs at kids birthday parties, and wanted to start travelling around the world. He tried to follow the group around a bit, but they seemed to have a good guide who knew all the small, hidden paths, so Fordil lost track already after a few days.
Not so much later, he found them again - although not in the circumstances he thought he would... After helping some people discover what happened with some mysterious black riders, Fordil got more and more involved in the story of the Fellowship, and now he's too deep in and too worried about the future of Middle-Earth to ever go back to Bree before their task is completed...
~~ Aurun ~~ (Dwarf Guardian)
Ever since he was a dwarf child, Aurun has known the struggle and work to survive. Born in the Dwarf Settlement of the Grey Mountains, his parents decided to move to Erebor while Aurun was still young. They tell him it was because Erebor promised to be a better home than the Grey Mountains, but Aurun always suspected that they were afraid war would come to their homes. His parents were miners, crafters, not fighters, and they feared combat... An unusual trait for dwarves.
The journey to Erebor wasn't easy: his parents decided to travel to Erebor by following the edges of the great Forest of Mirkwood, but something had driven orcs to the plains between the forest and the mountains. They barely escaped an ambush and had to fight several times in order to stay alive.
Even after arriving at Erebor, Aurun's life didn't become better. His cousin was a good friend of the young dwarf Thorin Oakenshield, and managed to get Aurun and his family settled with a good job. However, only 2 months after they arrived, Erebor was attacked by Smaug... Aurun's parents were both killed during the attack, and he only just managed to escape by following Thorin out of the city.
After this devastating loss (Aurun was only 42 after all...), it was very hard for him to keep going instead of letting all hopes down. Luckily, he became good friends with Thorin on their way to a new home, and he kept the optimism within Aurun alive. After a long time of travelling Eriador, the group of dwarves finally settled in the Blue Mountains. There, Aurun started training himself as a guardian of Thorin's hall. Guarding the halls was no easy job... The Blue mountains were swarming with goblins, and it was to these goblins that Aurun lost his beloved wife. That was the limit for Aurun, he left his home and his friends, and decided to travel east... He had heard something from Thorin about a meeting in the Elf-Lands, where the threat of evil presences would be discussed...
~~ Bregod ~~ (Man Captain)
Bregod started his career as a young jeweller, even though his father wanted him to join the guards of Combe of whom he was captain. After a few years of tinkering, Bregod fell in love with a young woman from Bree. He spent days to find gold of the highest quality, to craft her a necklace of beauty he never created before.
The process of crafting this necklace took him weeks, cutting rubies and sapphires in the exact correct shape. and filtering all impurities out of the molten metals. After it was finished, he gave the necklace to the woman, but she refused his request to marry him.
With his heart broken, Bregod was convinced he'd never know true love again, so he finally followed his father's advice and joined the guards of the town of Combe. He proved to be quite skilled, and after just a few years, his father resigned and Bregod took his place. Another 2 years went on, without seeing anything worse than a bear getting too close to town. After these years, during a summer night, Bregod was patrolling with a few of his men when he noticed some unfamiliar people near the gates to Archet.
His men got closer to investigate, but were slain immediately by the brigands. Bregod got closer too, but noticed just in time that some strange, hooded creatures approached, and he fled the scene. He alerted the Constables and other guards, but was too ashamed to continue his job as captain.
And so, Bregod quit the guard and started roaming the lands, trying to train his courage and that of others.
~~ Cylbert ~~ (Man Burglar)
Cylbert used to be a thief, a villain that wouldn't hesitate to kill if caught commiting a crime. His parents died while he was young and he never did any bit of honest work to stay alive. One night, while trying to pick a lock, he got caught by a constable who just happened to pass by after his daily duties.
Being locked up in jail, something happens in the small town; brigands take control and attack anyone on sight. Strider, the chief ranger came to aid, and set Cylbert free, knowing nothing of his past. After escaping the jail together, Cylbert agrees to do Strider a favor in return. He then whitnesses the wounding of the ranger Amdir by the horrible Nazgul and is disgusted by their evil prescence and actions.
This gets Cylbert thinking about his own existance, his own actions and behavior in the past. He decides to stick around Archet a little longer and helping Strider in his attempts to cure Amdir. As he helps them, the townsfolk of Archet notice his helpfulness and ask him to help them as well.
This awakens a feeling Cylbert hasn't felt in a very long time, but he's still uncertain of which path to choose: he wants to do good, but he's not sure if he'll be able to provide the necessary means to survive because he never earned one cent in an early way during all of his life.
A few days pass, and Fordil earns a little trust from the people of Archet. Captain Brackenbrook is still a little wary but he seems to focus more of his attention on the rangers. However, when Cylbert is sent to ask the townsfolk of Combe for help because of a threatening Brigand attack, and the gate to Combe is locked, the captain's eyes open up. On that same evening, the brigands burn down Archet. They can be stopped, and the traitor Calder Cob who led the assault was killed, but the Nazgul were able to take Amdir with them.
At this point, Cylbert doubts are gone and he is certain that he wants to spend the rest of his life fighting the evil forces of Sauron.
~~ Dadhrendir ~~ (Elf Warden)
Even though Dadhrendir loved the golden forest with his entire heart, the one thing he loved more was training his skills as a scholar. Sadly, the archives of the elves in Lorien were incomplete, and Dadhrendir had to choose between his scholarship and the place he called home.
After several weeks of deep thought, he decided to travel the world in search of artifacts of old, which had no records in Lorien. No day passes without him thinking of the walks between the mallorn trees, or sitting next to the Anduin, listening to it's music. Yet, he is determined to finish his training before returning home.
~~ Folkord ~~ (Dwarf Rune-Keeper)
Folkord always knew he was gifted with a special ability that not everyone has... When he was 14, he accidentially set the house of his parents on fire after yelling a few words. Luckily, his parents lived in a stone house like most dwarves, so they only had to replace the furniture.
A few years later, he got angry with another dwarf who stole his beer, and in the heat of the discussion he accidentially zapped him with a lightning bolt. It took the poor fellow 7 months to get his beard back to what it was before!
Another dwarf who was present during this conflict, noticed Folkord's hidden ability, and offered him training in the arts of Rune-keeping. Folkord, who was eager to learn to control his powers, happily accepted this offer and started studying.
Even though Folkord was clearly a very powerful Rune-Keeper in training, it was no easy job to train him because of his impatience. After 6 years of meditation, practice and hard training, he tried to sneak into his master's library because he had heard of a special, extremely powerful skill he would be taught the day after.
His impatience caused him to misread one small word in the instructions, and the effects caused an entire tunnel to collapse, He almost starved to death before the other dwarves were finally able to dig him out. Obviously, his master was very mad after this incident, and he sent Folkord away, refusing to teach him more until he had finished an exile of 20 years. During this exile, he was to train his patience and practice the easier skills he already knew.
That made Folkord realise how foolish he had been, and ever since he has been training and meditating, even though it's hard to resist temptation... Especially after a few of his favorite beers!
~~ Senarthir ~~ (Elf Hunter)
When his brother Senarthor was banned from the kingdom of Mirkwood, Senarthir decided to accompany him on his journey. Although they started together, they grew apart pretty quickly, mainly because Senarthor was focussed so much on gaining back a good reputation.
They still have contact, and still love each other, but do not travel together anymore. Senarthir became a true traveller, he loves to explore all corners of Middle-Earth and finds the little creatures called "hobbits" amazing, although he doesn't understand them very often... (How could one think of nothing but food all day long?).
~~ Senarthor ~~ (Elf Lore-Master)
Senarthor used to be a palace guard in the big forest of Mirkwood, loyal servant of the king. But then one day a group of dwarves traveled through the woods and got captured. Senarthor was assigned with the responsability to guard the prisoners, but one of his friends convinced him to try some wine while on duty... That mistake gave the dwarves an opportunity to escape, and Senarthor was banished from the kingdom of Mirkwood for 500 years.
Senarthor swore never to accept any guarding or defending role again, and started an entirely new life. Now he has roamed the lands of Eriador for a few years, and sought to compensate his mistake by rooting out all evil he can find. And although he still enjoys a bit of wine now and then, you'll never hear him talk about his past... Not until he can return to Mirkwood... (Oh, and he doesn't like dwarves very much... Guess why?)
~~ Theodram ~~ (Man Champion)
Being the youngest cousin of Theoden King, Theodram has no real authority but is still highly respected by the people of Edoras. He is known for his great skill with swords in combat, although his recklessness sometimes gets the better of him.
A few months ago, Gandalf the Grey came to Edoras and informed the king of high numbers of brigands in the areas around Bree. Since the rangers were seemingly unable to handle it all on their own, Theoden decided to send Theodram as aid to help those in need.
Now Theodram roams the lands of Eriador, pursuing evil wherever it hides. His heart is still in Rohan though, and it isn't easy for him to be so far away from the great horse-lands for such a long time, but he knows he will return one day, sooner or later the evil forces will endanger Edoras and he will return to aid his kinfolk.
