Greetings all :-)
Today I had a rather unusual day in-game. After finally getting enough rep with the Galadhrim to pass the borders of Lothlorien, I decide to have a ride about to explore the area before doing any quests. What drew my gaze before anything else though, was the large writing in the bottom corner of the map which said "Great River". Update 6 has not long been released, and even though I'm nowhere near level 75, I was still curious as to what the new region was like. I thought for a second, then said to myself, "Why not?".
I rode straight on past Caras Galadhon and Egladil, where the trees thin near the shores of the River Anduin, into Thinglad, where the influence of the Lady Galadriel lessens and the trees become more like those of mortal lands. Before long, the trees fail completely, and are replaced by the wide grasslands of Eorlsmead and the Rohirrim's village of Stangard. To the west, the Limlight Gorge and the eaves of Fangorn Forest. To the east, Parth Celebrant, where Eorl the Young rode to Gondor's aid long ago, the tall reeds of the Rushgore and, if you dare to cross the river, the mysterious and dangerous Brown Lands.
I was at level 59 when I made this journey (turned level 60 later on that day), and all the enemies are 75 and above. Needless to say I had to tread carefully! For the most part I kept to the roads and stopped to get the travel locations, although I did find Skarn ore which I stopped to mine. All in all it's a beautiful new addition to LOTRO and I'll be going back to explore again, when I'm feeling brave enough!
