Well met, Ainurial. And mucho gusto, Mario. =)
I live in the North Bay part of California, about an hour north of San Francisco. I work from home doing medical transcription.
My interests include music (listening to it, writing it, and occasionally even playing it), history (especially WW2 and the High Middle Ages), language (language in general as well as individual languages), writing (stories, song lyrics, even a poem or two), and gaming.
My first (and only other) MMORPG experience was with WoW, which I played for a couple years up until about half a year ago. I started playing LotRO late last November. My two characters (thus far) are Cuarlang the race-of-Man hunter and Legladhor the elf Warden.
See y'all in game! =)

Hi!
My name is Linda and I'm a 55 yr old housewife and mother of 5, Onnika being my youngest child and only daughter and we live in western Massachusetts.
I started playing video games 10 years ago beginning with Ultima Online where I played on one shard for 4 years. Then I moved on to Neverwinter Nights for several more years and even started building my own persistant world. It was nearly finished but then my server computer died on me so I put it aside and went in search of something to play. Someone recommended LOTRO, so I tried it and loved it right away.
I played on Windfola but was discouraged by the lack of roleplay and was ready to chuck LOTRO completely till someone recommended Landroval. The next thing I know, I'm joining Faral's kin, get kicked up into the Officer's field, and now I'm making forums and recruiting more awesome folks to join us and have fun.
See you ingame, and please forgive my many boo-boos...I will make them..hehe.

This thread is a great idea... it'll also aid my bad short-term memory My name is Savanna (Vanna) and I'm 24yrs old. As Vendla(ma) said, we live in western Massachusetts, USA. I've done almost everything one can do in the field of retail *groan*, but am trained as a Medical Assistant... I'm currently working odd jobs in child care and animal care until I find more stable employment (soon I hope). I began playing Ultima Online ten years ago when I was 14yrs old... only two years after we'd gotten our first computer in our home by my oldest brother's generosity. I began on a shard(server) called Shadowcove and played there for three to four years before moving on to a server called Sanctuary(later renamed Comraich). Unfortunately, behind the scenes politics and drama was ruining the gaming experience for me, and so I left UO alltogether about 6 years ago. I tried Never Winter Nights a time or two and didn't care much for it, mostly because my bad experiences on those previous servers had stolen my desire to role-play for a while. Until this past spring in 2011 when I began playing LOTRO per Vendla's suggestion. We did begin on Windfola, and were both perplexed at the lack of role-play on a role-play game... but someone suggested Landroval to me and I have been pleased to find such active RP, and such nice people to play with. My current characters are Onnika, a woman of the race of Man, a Burglar from the Dale lands, elder sister of Vendla... and Bookwerm (proper name Beryl Thicketblossom), a female Hobbit, Minstrel and Scholar.

That's awesome that you two (mother and daughter) share enthusiasm for the same game and play it together!
It's also nice hearing who everyone else is and what they do! It adds more personality to us all!
Ratfish, that's awesome you're in band! I miss my band days. I started with clarinet and then moved to trumpet (cause trumpets are cooler) but it was such an awkward transition from a wood instrument to brass. I switched back, lol. Have fun!

Good day to you all, once again.
I am Herebrand, Man Guardian and Armourer of Rohan as you know. In real life, I am James, I'm 30 years old and I live in Manchester, England. I have a seven year old daughter and I work at a currency exchange bureau at Manchester Airport.
I am unashamed to say that I am a massive Tolkien fan, and I have been since I first saw The Fellowship of the Ring on DVD when I was about 18. Middle-earth bit me and never let go. I have read The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit numerous times, as well as Tolkien's other material such as Unfinished Tales and the Silmarillion. I recommend anyone to do the same, as they are in my opinion the greatest books ever written.
As is the case in-game, if anyone ever needs help understanding the lore, or anything else for that matter, do not hesitate to ask me for help :-)
James

A very kind offer, Herebrand... I may certainly pick your brain about the lore at some point, as I, most horribly, have not yet read any of the Tolkien books... only seen the films

Hey!
My name is Ethan and I am 21yrs old. I live in British Columbia, Canada (yep I live in Canada). During the Winter time I work as a snowboarding instructor and during the Summer I work at an outdoor equipment/gear store. I started gaming at only 6yrs old with the Elder Scrolls: Dagger Fall (well I attempted to play it). I started to play LotRO back in 2008 when my friend had informed me of it. I started on Windfola server but my frined was all like "NO! YOU GOTTA GO ON LANDROVAL AND RP!" I did so and now I am where I am today! and so I did leaving me where . But I first found out about JRR Tolkiens works through my Dad. He was (and still is) a big fan of him. I finished reading the LOTR series when I was just 14yrs old and I have seen every movie (I even got interviewed at the Fellowship of the Ring premiere!!!). My interests are snowboarding (of course!), playing guitar, drumming, writing and gaming!
My current characters are Thorovir Thelyn, a half-elven Captain and Samfred Brandywood, a Hobbit minstrel! (Though I am most active on Thorovir!)

I live in Ontario, Canada, and I play the clarinet in band (but only because it's just a normal concert band and I can't play the violin in it lol). Also, Ratfish and Ainurial, I admire the both of you for learning the trumpet. It just seems so weird to be able to play so many notes with only three keys! I started gaming a while back when my brother gave me his xbox and introduced me to BioWare. As to how I got on lotro, well my friend called me one day and told me about it, and they told me they'd made an account on Landroval, which was known for RP. And I signed up immediately hehe. I'm not as familiar with LotR RP-wise ... I've been on a few RP forums but they were mainly based on the Forgotten Realms. And so RPing as a Tolkien elf is still really different than what I'm used to. But I'm slowly working it out haha. I saw the movies first and loved them, but then I read the LotR trilogy and I wasn't really impressed with Tolkien's style. But I REALLY loved the Hobbit, and I can't wait for the movie to come out! But mostly I read, write, and play and listen to music when I'm not gaming. ;D (which isn't very often lol!)

Hehe yes I have thought about that many times about how you can play so many notes with just three valves. Many of my friends that play woodwind also think the same hehe.......it has to do with air speed and a few other things...sometimes I wish we had octave or pitch keys!

Lol I always thought the trumpet did have some sort of octave key. When I realised it didn't I decided to never try it lol!
And woo! *high-fives fellow Canadian*
