This was inspired by the thread with the same title in the OOC section. It occurred to me it might be useful, for those of us who like or want to RP, to let other kinfolk know a bit about who's out there. (Yes, there's the character bio board, but not everyone has the time or inclination to write (or even read) a full biography of every character, particularly those of us with lots of alts.
So, I was thinking a thread where people could just list their characters and give the basics about them, a couple of sentences or so about their basic background, motives, personality, etc, might be fun or useful. I'll go ahead and start to give an idea of what I mean. From highest level to lowest:
Frafur, Son of Shofur - Dwarf Minstrel from the Lonely Mountain. He was the equivalent of a "drummer boy" at the Battle of Five Armies and decided music was his calling. He does not take life too seriously, laughs a lot, and tries to get on well with the other free peoples, even Elves. (Current lvl: 83)
Torvaen Firehand - Lore Master, Man of Gondor; specifically from Dol Amroth. An older Man, respected historian and scholar, he had not traveled in the North until he heard through a chance encounter that both Mithrandir and Sauruman seemed to have a keen interest in a far-off land called the Shire, inhabited by a folk called Hobbits. He decided to go see for himself, and has found himself involved in all sorts of trouble. (Lvl 79)
Daelwaru - Woman, Guardian: Shield-Maiden of Rohan. I haven't actually firmed up her background entirely, or her reason for travelling to the North, but she is a large woman with a sort of top-sergeant manner; when not soldiering, she likes ale, music, dancing, and other simple pleasures. (Lvl 61)
Taitwyn -- Woman, Burglar, also from Rohan. She was raised on a farm, but when she was about 11, it was attacked and burned by Dunlending raiders, who killed the rest of her family and took her captive. She spent years essentially as a slave, before her band moved north as part of the Dunlending incursion into Eregion. She manged to escape and was found by a pair of Rangers; unable to take her home, they took her North to Bree. Along the way she learned some of their skills in scouting and stealth, and since then her gratitude has led her to aid the Rangers in every way she can. (lvl 46)
Cynelswith - Woman of Dale; Captain. Daughter of a blacksmith who also was more-or-less head of the militia of her village, one which was founded in the days after King Bard began to reclaim the Dale-lands. Men from the South showed up - doubtless working for Mordor - and demanded tributes of food and other supplies. Her father took the lead in refusing; shortly afterward, he and others were killed in a night attack by goblins. Cynelswith seized her father's sword and led a counter-attack, rallying the people behind her and driving the goblins off; then led them to safety when it became clear the village was too vulnerable. She has traveled far in hopes of finding aid, but instead found that evil is spreading throughout the lands. (lvl 39)
Nellethril -- Elf, Rune-Keeper. She hasn't told anyone her age, but until recently she had spent the entire Third Age in Lorien; spending much of her time along the Anduin and Nimrodel, listening to the water as it flows from afar. The mood of the rivers has been changing of late, and this has brought her out of the forest to see what can be done. (lvl 29)

Ooh! I love this idea! I'll play! I have 8 toons and only one is in this kinship, so I'll start with her and include the others in case anyone is interested in RPing with any of them.
Hadoriel (Warden, Elf of Rivendell) - a very old Elf who has seen a great deal of battle in her time. She was born in Doriath, when Dior was King, just before its fall to the Fëanorean attack. She remembers the rise and fall of Númenor and fought in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Though her heart has begun to grow weary, she still has no desire to leave Middle-earth and sail for Valinor, instead remembering the great Son of Beren and Luthien who was of old her king and the greatness that she believes still exists in Men. She has vowed to remain in Middle-earth, fighting the Enemy until his defeat. To help achieve this goal, she seeks ancient items of power that can be used for good. Currently, she seeks the lost Palantíri.
Beregelleth (Hunter, Woman of Gondor) - Born in Gondor in Dol Amroth, she is the eldest of three daughters of one of the Swan Knights of Prince Imrahil. Recently, her father was killed in battle in the wars raging on the boarder between Gondor and Mordor. With no male heirs, his Knight's title passed to Beregelleth. This has created a bit of controversy, as it is not seen as proper for a woman to ride to battle as a knight in wartime, but nor is it right for a Knight not to serve the Prince. To escape the controversy, she traveled north, vowing to return with word of happenings and movements of friends and foes of Gondor alike.
Wilbeorht (Burgler, Man of Dale) - a toymaker by trade, Wil is unabashedly seeking his fortune. Several years ago, he heard of a very, very large order for toys that was commissioned by a certain old Hobbit in a far off land call The Shire. Deciding that this meant that the western lands of Middle-earth must have a great demand for Dalish toys, Wil set off with a couple silver in his pocket and a cart full of toys. He eventually landed in Bree where he has been trying to sell his wares ever since. However, he has found the market is not all its cracked up to be. There is little demand among the Men of Bree and it seems every Hobbit in the area already has a Dalish toy or two. The market was flooded before he even arrived and it has forced him to try to innovate and find other work to make ends meet.
Megildan (Champion, Man of Gondor) - Known to the locals in Bree as "The Good Southerner," Megildan also calls himself Breithinvegil. The reasons he has claimed this name are not widely known, but there is a rumor about some sort of failed expedition to the fields of Fornost. He is a rather dour man, most of the time, though he can always be called upon for assistance when danger lurks. What a Man of Gondor who is often seen wearing the livery of a Citadel Guard may be doing in Bree-land is a secret he tends to keep to himself, but to say that he is searching for something and it is a task that binds him to exile from his home. He is a learned man, often seen with an old tome or two in hand, and he speaks fluent Sindarin. He is also seen tinkering in the forges often, forging blades and often muttering about seeking a perfect sword.
The rest of my toons are sort of half-formed RP-wise. I'll post more when they're more developed.

Very nice idea:)
Ok, I have a LARGE number of alts, so the list will be as concise as possible*G*
On Landroval (this kin's server)
Alenidan - he's a dwarf inspired by Dwarf Fortress (which if you've ever played or know anything about, doesn't stray too far off being inspired by LOTR), got a few too many clunks on the head and believes every beast he sees now is an oliphaunt (because that's what attacked his fortress) - he has his own dictionary of what kind of oliphaunt he calls what critter (and this includes the Watchers in Moria) if you ever meet him, he'll be the first to warn you about oliphaunts being everywhere, and "watch for their beady lil' eyes... oh it's horrible... those eyes..."
Finnsech - female human LM, she was in training for LM when Archet was attacked, wants to build library but sees that the world is under attack now, so wants both to save her beloved books and to find out what the H is going on
Lifgar - the son of a dwarf who was in the Battle of Five Armies, this poor guy actually just loves jewelcrafting and cooking, but he joined the army to try and get praise from his father (so now he's overcompensating by working on the World-Renowned title)
Goldfala - Finnsech's younger sister, who's a little more naïve, but she doesn't go for fighting as much; she prefers HEALING battlegrounds
Nimmin - an elf of Rivendell who was raised in a fairly well-off hunter family, and has traveled to see the world basically; she thinks hobbits are very cute and hilarious, loves cooking
Thellraen - an elf of Lothlorien, member of the Guard of Lady Galadriel there, who was sent out into the rest of the world to assist with the current troubles; very forthright, helps at need, will charge into battle whenever
Sprice - a hobbit warden, of the Bounders' Leaf and Twig group (basically Animal Control). She used to be in charge of making sure there are the right number of critters in all sections of the Shire, now has moved out into the rest of the world to work on the same. Sadly, she's discovered that Big People seem to have been corrupting innocent Hobbits into doing things like swimming, stealing, partying in places it isn't legal, hunting/fishing without a license, and even RIDING!
As I mentioned, I've 6 characters over on Laurelin as well:
Arudhros - an elf of Mirkwood, very "surfer dude" though he HATES goblins and orcs, especially, since those killed his pet spider when he was younger (he's also my highest-level character to-date because I've been using him as my "leveling guinea pig")
Karlto - the world's most pretentious hobbit, he believes every tall tale ever told by Bilbo Baggins and has set out to do (and therefore outdo) just what he's been told... he also is pompous enough to think that when he first got to Angmar and the people there called him "Sovereign", they meant "King"... yeah. Owns a "mansion" in Falathlorn (which is only partially decorated with gaudy stuff, but that's my fault)
Thiraen - female human captain of Gondor, her parents fled the horrors coming out of Mordor when they started some years ago, but she dreams of returning and becoming a full captain of the guard there
Kibrien - she's my elf of the south, Bay of Belfalas - I gave her a "Kazakstani" accent because well, I figured, why not? (I think I was missing my WoW draenai) believes her people are best at everything, and isn't really surprised by much up north, because well, when you've seen Nazgul firsthand, dead mires, Ents, and so on...
Kumquat - my grumpy female hobbit hunter, who actually LOVES Moria, because the hunting in there is great*G* she's Karlto's cousin and thinks he's idiotic
That's them all! So if anyone's over on Laurelin, and you run into one of those, they're mine:)

Since I'm only focusing on one character at the moment, I'll just share his brief backstory...
Ellahad (Male Elf Lore-Master of Lorien): Born the son of one of the three Wardens of the great mallorn in Caras Galadhon, he could not follow in his father's martial footsteps and instead focused on the mysteries of the scholar. As he witnessed the darkening of the borders of Lorien due to the awakened evil of the mountains and of the haunting of Dol Goldur, he sought leave to venture to Imladris and the lands of the west to prepare for a return to Lorien as a learned protector in the final battles of the Third Age against the shadow. Though much amused by his new friends-in-arms, especially the ways of hobbits and dwarves, nary a day passes when he does not return in his mind to the elanor and niphredil of Cerin Amroth. He is a student of the art of fellowship in battle, and prefers working in a group to soloing.

I'm mainly focusing on 2 of my Landroval toons, I have 10 more freeps + 6 creeps, but I haven't worked out any background stories yet for these other toons. Fordil: lvl 43 man minstrel, very friendly and not worrying too much about the growing evil in the east, but still very aware of it all and spending a lot of time on fighting Sauron's evil forces. He likes to help his friends and kinmates whenever possible, and enjoys playing music for others. He has always traveled a lot and never had a real home anymore since he was very young, but he likes to be on the road so it's all just a big adventure to him. Cylbert: lvl 20 man burglar, used to be a real criminal who was not afraid of killing if necessary. One day he got caught while picking a lock and was put in jail. After a while, something happens and Strider frees him in condition that Cylbert will help him freeing some hobbits. In the next few days, Cylbert's eyes are opened when he faces the evil of the brigands and the Nazgul, and he decides to stop his criminal life and start working for the good side. His methods still remain though, as he has never used any other methods and wouldn't know how to. I'll post if I work out more bios for my other toons but I think I'll just focus on these 2 for now

I only have a back story for Eldoin my Elven Hunter at the moment.
Eldoin is a loner who decided to oust himself from his clan as he no longer followed their ideology when it came to when and how they should deal with the goblin problems that persist in the land. His elders believed although the goblins were their sworn enemies it was not for the clan to repeatedly put their hunters and warriors in danger constantly, by engaging with the goblins.
Eldoin did not agree, his elder brother Elduar went missing when they were out hunting and he has constantly spent his time searching for him, he believes Elduar was captured by a goblin war party and has vowed never to stop hunting goblins until his kin has been found.
Many a traveller and farmer have been saved by an invisible archer that has nocked his bow and struck down the would be foe, but there has seldom been any sighting of their saviour. Let alone the chance to reward Eldoin with furs, food or ale.
