A scroll rests on the kin house table. Upon opening, the following is written, in a firm flowing script:
My friends,
At long last, the time has come. The road to Rohan, to my homeland, is now open to us. I will shortly be setting forth, for I hear that not all is well there, and I worry for my family's safety. I have not asked much before of our kinship, but I ask this now: will you come with me? I fear that evil folk now walk in the Riddermark, and the very safety of my people is threatened, and every sword and bow that can be wielded in its defence will be needed. Thank you my friends

Sir Herebrand, I would ride with you into the depths or Mordor, but alas, I am commanded to stay and continue the efforts here in Mirkwood and Lothlorien. It is my firm desire that I will one day soon be sent to fight by your side for your homeland.

Fascinating - do you mean that beyond the depths of Moria there is country wider than the moors of the North Downs? I can hardly believe such. It seems only yesterday I was in Bree, training with my raven to fight back spiders and brigands. I will ride with you, if I can find you... I would explore the history of your land, it sounds magnificent!
