Just thought I would mention a couple of examples of poor roleplay etiquette, because it seem some people have difficulty grasping the idea. It is in poor form to join someone else's Fellowship party and then inadvertently expect those you are with to stop what they are doing (sometimes people just need to gather materials and supplies) to cater to your roleplay whim..... especially in a location that respawns. If you -want- to have a roleplay encounter, give the people you want to roleplay with an OOC heads-up... and then move to a place where your party is not going to be attacked by respawn repeatedly. Once you begin roleplaying with a group of people... DO NOT simply run off and log offline..... you have in a sense then gotten people sidetracked, involved, and then dumped them. More to come periodically...

I think this is a much needed thread!!!
In response to your posting. In advanced role play .... If a scenario like (someone is injured, or someone is lost, etc) is going to be played out, it is "scripted" before hand. Nobody should just take it upon themselves to alter or disrupt the RP of any group effort without first having that group's blessing (permission)
My advice to any group is ... if that should happen to STOP immediately (not in an orc respawn LOL) and explain what the group is doing and then ask the offender if they can play within those guidelines.
Sometimes while some might think they are being patient and kind .... we are simply encouraging bad RP and inconsideration.
RP is a group dynamic!!! Never ever about one person. RP is only fun when a whole group is involved.
We should expect everyone to "check their ego" at the front gate! LOL
Thanks for this post Onnika

Also remember to limit short hand (lol) to ooc. You dont or atleast i hope you dont go around work or your daily life saying lol you simply laugh, chuckle etc. When in a group r/ping and its time to log off and attend to r/l take the extra 2 minutes and excuse your self IC. IE " Well everyone. I must be going now. it was nice visiting with you all." give another few moment to give folks a chance to say their farewells before walking off.. out of the pony/house or if out in the wilds out of sight before either porting else where or logging.

These are all good comments. It's the little things that make RP fun or not fun. It's okay to lol but /lol so your character actually laughs at someone. Unless it's been otherwise directed by kin rules, if you have never met someone RPly, you're not going to know their name. Biographies should not be in the first person. And as far as scripted, some of the best RP I have ever done is off the cuff RP. The problem is, this kind of RP isn't for everyone. Most people want to always win the fight. Most people want to duck, dodge, dance, drop, and doom! That's not how it goes. If your character is a 14 year old girl from Rohan and you're picking on a 30 year old man who decides to back hand her, guess what, you just got biatch slapped! Real Rpers will take the hits. Of course this is within reason. No one can kill your character or maim them without your permission. That is why real Rper's will always "attempt," _____ maneuver. Instead of just bashing someone in the face. The latter, that is called god-moding. The following is someone else's words regarding God-moding. GODMODING!!!!
Guess what? Only godmoders like godmoders... What's godmoding you ask? I'll be more then happy to explain.
Godmoding bluntly put is when you give your character god like abilities. Things that are NOT HUMANLY POSSIBLE is what you need to bear in mind concerning this. A few examples are:
Doing a backflip in a full suite of armor. Dodging twenty arrows all aimed at you simotaneously and NOT be standing behind a brick wall (the wall between you and the arrows). Hearing people's thoughts while not possessing telekinesis. Moving mountains, other large land masses, uprooting buildings etc...
There is another form of godmoding as well and that's when you take it upon yourself to decide another characters fate or responses without first consulting the involved other character. you did not create the other character involved, you do not know them better then their player so do not assume you can decide for them that your skills far outrank theirs or that you may put words into their mouths.
Some examples of this type of godmoding are:
Deciding another character shall whimper when you threaten them. Attacking them and landing the hit all in the same motion. Taking things from their person without permission. Removing things from their homes without first consulting the other player.
See also "Conflicts" and "Perception" for further information on this issue.
As you are expected not to godmode towards other players so you should expect from other players. If you have no wish to be a godmoder and you end up in a situation with one, blow the entire situation off and move on, take a note of who it was and aim to never rp with them again or within a limited context. Godmoding back to a godmoder only encourages them to continue doing it and may also give others the impression it's how you rp regularly. That you don't need.
Godmoding creates some negative ramifications. If you want to take roleplaying seriously you won't be able to do it when all the other serious roleplayers begin avoiding you because you've been labelled a godmoder.
Act wisely, intelligently and realistically and you'll get further quicker and you'll be helping towards creating a better roleplay environment for everyone.
I want to add one more thing to a very long post. My characters OFTEN "think" stuff. I do this not so someone can directly question what they are thinking but to better understand my character and how to interact with them because everyone knows when people are thinking and they always are, they express things on their face. Does that mean if I /e Uliathril purses her lips and stands wondering why humans are so foolish... that people cannot respond? Of course not, they can respond. "Why do you look so annoyed Uliathril?" "What is wrong dear, I sense tension in you," etc but they should not, "Uliathril you're so prejudiced against humans!" See the difference? Okay anyway enough of my ranting!
